The B.E.L.L.A. Foundation
I am the founder and current president of the B.E.L.L.A. Foundation. The B.E.L.L.A. Foundation (Building Early Language and Literacy for Achievement) is an innovative, educational provider focusing on teaching foundational language skills to under-served pre-school and Kindergarten bilingual Hispanic students. These children, from homes where English is not the native language, are encouraged to cultivate their native language, Spanish, as well as learn English. Maintaining the home language is essential not just to the child’s future academic and cognitive development, but also to the child’s ability to establish a strong cultural identity, to develop and sustain strong ties with their immediate and extended families, and to thrive in a global, multilingual world.
The B.E.L.L.A. Foundation, through its comprehensive, four year, free, language training program, will offer preschool and Kindergarten students, skills to allow them to achieve early language proficiency in their native language, thereby facilitating an effortless transition to subsequent English proficiency. The curriculum emphasizes research based, multi sensory learning, created by leading educational language professionals. For more information follow the link to The B.E.L.L.A. Foundation website.
